Esvagt Faraday represent a new breed of specially adapted DPII wind farm service vessels with design based on many years’ experience from the offshore sector. As it will operate in the renewable energy sector, energy efficiency with low-emissions is essential. In order to meet operational and environmental demands, Esvagt chose Siemens’ BlueDrive PlusC propulsion system.
Siemens uses the SOV "Faraday" of the Danish shipping company ESVAGT for offshore service for its wind turbines. This ship was built specifically for the demands posed by servicing sea-based plants. The vessel is 83.70 meters long and 17.60 meters wide, with a draught of 6.50 meters. Workshops and a spare parts storage facility are also provided on board the "Faraday," along with quarters that can house 40 technicians and 20 crew members for up to several weeks.
